Field Hymns No. 1

Field Hymns No. 1 started as an experiment — a small attempt to see what would happen if I made songs the same way I take photographs or build film scenes. One image at a time. No big plan.

The record was built around rhythm and memory. I used a few old instruments, a marantz field recorder, and simple drum loops and synths from Kontakt 8. Most of the sounds were captured in one or two takes, filtered through Suno, and left that way. The goal was for spontaneous creation.

Each song sits in a different kind of quiet.

The album isn’t about nostalgia or loss. It’s about process, how ordinary materials can turn into something lasting when you give them space. The field is both literal and internal: a place to work, listen, and let things grow on their own.

I called it Field Hymns No. 1 because it felt like a first sketch, a proof of concept that eventually grew into a companion EP and a full album.
